March 17/18
The first twenty (20) minutes of class is a work session--make sure you have your slide complete for our slideshow presentations.
Our slideshow presentations should take no more than about 30 seconds each (though they could run longer if there are any questions from the peanut gallery).
If there is any time remaining after the presentation, use it to complete any missing work from this unit. We will be moving into Unit 2 next class.
March 16
It is time to introduce you to turnitin.com. You will be submitting several of your assignments this semester through this platform. For those who were not in class today, you can find instructions and needed codes within this link.
Once you have completed your turnitin set-up and practice activity, any remaining time is yours to make sure your slide is ready for our presentation next class.
March 9/10
This is our last assigned day for working on your Career Research Project. You should have the packet turned in by the end of today (it is the only 80% item on this grading period--without it, you will see an F on your progress report).
Once your packet is complete, you should complete your slide for our slideshow--remember, the link for the slides has been sent to you through your school e-mail.
March 5/6
B Day will begin with a set of Guest Speakers. A Day, you heard these speakers last week.
The big new for the day is introducing you to Part 2 of your Career Research Project. This is the Slideshow Presentation. In order to access your slide for the presentation, you will need to open the e-mail I sent you (March 5), which will include the link.
The remainder of the class period is yours to get work done. Whether that is packet work, or slide creation. It just depends on where you are at the moment.
Remember, you need to have your Career Research Packet completed and turned in by the end of your only class session next week. It will be in the gradebook for the grading period, and I don't want to see an 80% zero in the gradebook for you.
March 3/4
This is our last work session on the Career Research Project before we move into Part Two of the project. Work toward having the packet completed by the end of class.
March 2
Today continues giving you time to work on your Career Research Project.
February 26/27
A Day will begin with a set of Guest Speakers. B Day, you will get a chance to see the same speakers in early March. These attached slides introduce you to what our speakers will be talking about.
The remainder of the day is set aside for you to continue working on your past due and current assignments/project.
February 24/25
Up first, let's get you acquainted with your Career Research Project. You need to have your Career Previews Worksheet completed before you move into the project.
The remainder of today's time is for you to work on whichever element you are needing to complete.
February 23
Today is a work session. Use this time to work on/complete your Career Previews Packet and/or your Personal Strengths Packet.
February 19/20
We will start our time with a round of notes about Career Clusters. Those notes will lead to a Career Clusters homework assignment (it is homework because you may need your parents help in filling it out).
You will begin looking at specific careers with a Career Previews Worksheet. You will start this today and continue working on it next class. The U.S. Bureau of Labor website can help you fill out information about your career choices. You an also use this link for additional information about careers.
The remainder of our time will be yours to either finish you Personal Strengths packet and then begin working on the Career Previews Worksheet.
February 17/18
Lots of things happening today. First up, we are going to take care of pages 3 and 4 of your Personal Strengths packet.
When it comes to page 4, we will be watching this video, and you will need to complete "The Value Bridge" Quiz (you will need to create an account for this one).
February 12/13
Today I ask, "What is a career?" You will be answering that and we will hold a short discussion.
We will then have you complete your second aptitude test. This is the O*NET Interest Profiler. Once you have completed this test, you will need to use the results to answer the first page of our packet.
If you finish the above, and there is still time in class, use that time to complete the 16 Personalities Quiz and the corresponding worksheet page from last class.
February 10/11
As we begin our look into career paths, we will first look at your strengths and aptitudes. This will begin with a short round of notes and an activity.
From there, you will receive a Personal Strengths worksheet/packet that we will work on over the coming week. Before you can start the packet, you will need to complete the first of the aptitude tests. The 16 Personalities Quiz can be found here. Make sure to have them send your results to your school e-mail. Once you have the results, you can begin working on page two of your packet (we will complete page one next class).
