HECPS--Unit 2

April 9/10

Life begins with a 30-minute work session.  Use this time to make sure you have complete your resume, cover letter, and mock job application.  All of these should be submitted to turnitin.com
We will follow this time with some Tips for an Interview (solid notes).  These notes will help you with your mock interview, which you learn about next week.
Finally, you will receive your Mock Interview Worksheet.  We will work on completing the first page of the worksheet in class today.  In order to complete the first page, use this link for Career One Stop.

April 7/8
Two things today--the first being a very important set of notes.  This is all about Looking Like A Winner when you go for a job interview.
The second item on the agenda today is filling out a mock job application.  You will need to fill-in the application (found by clicking on this link).  Once finished, you will need to download the completed application and then submit it to turnitin.com.

April 6
Use today to make sure you have completed and submitted both your resume and your cover letter.

April 2/3
Today's focus is trying to complete the Cover Letter.  You will continue building the cover letter you started last class.  Once you finish the letter, and make corrections pointed out through Turnitin Draft Coach, you will be submitting the cover letter to turnitin.com.
In the last 10 minutes of class, you will receive a Job Application Prep Sheet.  Make sure to look it over and make sure you have all the items listed by next week--it will make your life easier.

March 31/April 1
Our first 20 minutes is yours to finish up and submit your resume to turnitin.com.
We will then move into talking about the Magic of the Cover Letter.  This will lead to your letter assignment.  We will be using a template from Google Docs for this assignment.  The remainder of the class period will be yours to begin working on your cover letter.

March 30
Today is all about putting together your resume.  Let's start putting together the components and create the best resume for you that we can.  If you were not here last class, make sure to call me over and I will help you get to a template to use for your resume.
If you finish the resume today, make sure to submit it to turnitn.com.  Ask for help as needed.

March 19/20
Two items to start things off--and both focus on getting people caught up.  First, if someone missed giving their presentation last class, they can do that at this time.  Second, time will be given to get those who missed the first opportunity to get signed up with turnitin.com.
We will then take a few minutes to talk about our new unit and begin to discuss the resume and its purpose.
Finally, we will start the process for getting your resume built.  Today is just about pulling a template from Google Docs, and typing in your personal information.  We will work on the "meat" of the resume after we return from Spring Break.
I will also give you a Resume Prep Worksheet.  Please have this filled out by the time I see you after Spring Break--it is meant to help you when we sit down to build your resume.
