Unit 2: Fantasy Unit

March 19
Use the day to revise/edit your short story.  In doing so, make sure to look at your peer feedback on turnitin.com.  Also, make sure to use Draft Coach one more time before you submit your final draft--that way you can catch any errors that were created when you edited/revised.
I will give you updates on when we will be going through final revision (after you have seen my feedback) when we return from Spring Break.

March 17

It is time to help your peers out while they help you.  You need to complete two peer reviews for this activity.  Remember, you will get full credit once you complete (fully) your two peer reviews.
The ability to see what your peers have to say about your story opens at 6:00 p.m.

March 16
You are aiming to have your Fantasy Story Project completed (rough draft) by the end of today.  Remember, you want your story submitted to turnitin.com by the time you get to class tomorrow, as we are going to be conducting our peer reviews at that time.

March 10
Continue building your Fantasy Story Project.  You will be able to start submitting your rough draft on turnitin.com today.

March 5
Another class period devoted to working on your Fantasy Story Project.  Continue making progress today.

March 3
This is your first full class period to work on your Fantasy Story Project.  Try to get a healthy start today.

March 2
It is time to get introduced to your Fantasy Story Project.  It will take me a few minutes to go through all the information, but remember, we will be working toward using these stories for our self-published book.

February 26
Today, I am going to have your read the short story "The Last Unicorns."  As you read, you will need to complete this activity.  We will then discuss the story before moving on.
The remainder of today's time is yours to complete a Fantasy Flash-Fiction Activity.  Once completed, you will need to submit the flash-fiction piece to turnitin.com.

February 24
First up, let's take a look at Building Fantasy Characters.  You will then be given time to build a character that you could use in a fantasy story.
The remaining time today is yours to get caught up on assignments (like the drabbles from last class).

February 23
Today, we are talking princes and princesses (common characters in a fantasy story).  We will start with a Post-It activity and then end with a drabble activity, which will need to be turned in when finished.

February 19
As we enter into our first full unit, we need to get our bearings on what it means to write fantasy stories.  So, we will begin with two sets of notes.  The first is all about Building Fantasy.  The second will focus on Subgenres of Fantasy so that you can see where you are able to take your stories.
The remainder of today's time is your last chance in class to work on any of our assignments from the Picture Book Unit.  After today, I will not be accepting the I Was So Mad activity.  Also, I have started reading your picture book projects, so you need to make sure that is completed and submitted to turnitin.com.
