100 Great Songs

The list for 100 Great Songs is a hard one.  As always, it is not a "best" list, as I have not listened to all the recorded music out there to make that judgement.  Also, it is hard to make this list encompass all genres of music (note that classical music is absent while many other genres are barely touched upon).
What is worse, is that, as a former DJ, I have thousands of albums stuck in my head.  Not songs, but albums.  As I began building this list, I tried to be very selective.  I did discover along the way, though, that I was in trouble.  My initial list ran to over three hundred songs.  I soon realised that this could be a list of 1,000 great songs, and I still would be barely scratching the surface of the wonderful music that has been produced in our world (I did not even spend much time on traditional music from around the globe--just too much great music).
So, in the end, here is a list of 100 great songs.  You will know some of the songs, you will be introduced to some songs (and artists).  I hope you find something new to latch onto, and enjoy for years to come.  As always, you should be able to find these songs through your favourite method of getting music.
