May 16/20
Use this time to complete the peer review on turnitin.com. Remember, you need to review two of your peers' stories.
May 14/15
This is your last day in class to work on the rough draft for your Fantasy Project. You want to have your rough draft completed and submitted by the end of class today. Peer reviews will begin on May 16.
May 13
Another day for working on your Fantasy Project. Remember, you want to have your rough draft submitted to your Rough Draft course on turnitin.com by the end of our next class.
May 9/10
Today is a work session day for your Fantasy Project. Make sure you have your computer and get ready to make some distance on your story.
May 7/8
First up, it's time for a little fantasy flash-fiction. This assignment is due before you leave class today.
Up next, it's time to get introduced to your Fantasy Project. The remainder of today's class is yours to start brainstorming ideas for your story.
May 6
In our short class today, we are just going to read a story, respond to some questions and then talk about the story. So, let's get started. The story is called "The Last Unicorns." As you are reading the story, answer the following in your notebook. We will finish our time with a discussion about the story.
May 1/2
It's a notes and then activity day. First up, let's take a look at different types of characters for your fantasy. These Building Fantasy Characters notes are aimed at helping you create characters with purpose in your stories.
Next, it is time for you to create a fantasy character. You need to complete the one-page profile. Once you have completed your profile, turn the page over and write a drabble using your character. It would be nice if this is turned in before you leave class today.
April 29/30
We will be starting the day with a Post-It activity, which will then lead in to a drabble assignment.
Once we have finished with the above activities, we will end the day talking about Subgenres of Fantasy.
If there is any time at the end of class, those of you missing an assignment from our last unit can use the time to get caught up, but I will not be accepting those assignments for credit starting next class.
April 25/26
Let's finish things from our last unit. Take time to submit the final draft of your horror/monster story. Also, check the board in class. If your name is on it, that means you are missing at least one assignment. Pull up your StudentVUE to see what's missing and then get it done.
After that work session, you will be introduced to your last full unit of the year--it's fantasy writing time.
We will end the day with our notes on Building Fantasy. We will expand on some necessary aspects to fantasy stories in the next week.
