March 18
Let's focus on getting the peer reviews completed today. Oh, and that sequel project--make sure the rough draft has been submitted. As time permits, get some revision done on your story--you want to have the final draft submitted to your period course on turnitin by the end of the school day on Wednesday.
March 14/15
The first half of today's class is devoted to getting your Sequel Project Rough Draft completed and submitted to turnitin.com.
The second portion of today's class will have you begin working through your Peer Review activity on turnitin. You will need to have this completed by the end of Monday's class.
March 12/13
Continue working on your Sequel Project. Remember, you want to be able to submit your rough draft to turnitin.com by Thursday/Friday.
March 11
Today is the first full day to be working on your Sequel Project. Use this time to write the summary to your source material. If you have already completed that, go ahead and start working on the story.
March 7/8
Today, you get thirty minutes at the start of class to make sure you have completed your sequels for both the O. Henry story and the film Victory.
Up next, it is time to look at your project for this unit. Our final sequel will need to be completed and submitted to our rough draft course on turnitin.com by March 14. Once introduced to the project, use the remainder of today's class to choose your source material and begin brainstorming and/or creating your summary.
March 5/6
A quickwrite will start our day.
Next up, let's take a look at the requirements for your Victory sequel assignment. You will be submitting this assignment to turnitin.com. You want to have your sequel completed and submitted by Friday (all classes).
For those who need it, here is a summary for the film Victory.
You can also try this clip (as long as it works) for the final 13 minutes of the film.
March 4
It's all about finishing Victory today and making sure your character worksheet is complete. You will be introduced to the sequel activity for the film next class.
February 29/March 1
Today you will begin to watch the film Victory. This film will lead to your second sequel assignment. Once we have finished watching the film (on Monday), you will need to write a sequel to the film. Details will be given on Monday.
As you are watching the movie, add notes on the Character Worksheet. The notes are to help you remember who some of the characters are and to remember some details that can help you with your sequel.
February 27/28
Today is set aside for you to write your O. Henry sequel. Use your time wisely. Try to have the story submitted to turnitin.com by the end of class.
February 26
Today begins with a quick survey to help us determine the next units in class.
We will then go over some terms to know. These terms will help you throughout the semester.
Finally, you will be introduced to the second part of the O. Henry activity--the sequel. Introduced today and given all of our next class to work on it.
February 22/23
To begin our second unit, let's get a quick refresher on Lengths of Fiction. We will be working with many of the smaller lengths in this list over the course of the semester.
Next up, I want to introduce you to the American author O. Henry. We will be focusing on his works for the next week.
Our O. Henry Story Activity will take up the remainder of today's class. The books you are going to be using are mine and need to be handed back in at the end of class. The story you choose to read today and the activity you complete in connection to the story will help you with a writing activity next week.
